Banking mobility with N26
We can help make N26 your main account by moving your daily banking from another account.
Why make N26 my main account?
We can help make N26 your main account by moving your daily banking from another account. This service is free and unconditional. You can set up the transfer of all your regular payments to your N26 account in just a couple of clicks on your mobile.
How does it work?
Together with our partner ISILIS (23 rue de Vienne, 75008 Paris, RCS Paris 452 818 958) we will be offering you a solution to easily switch your bank accounts online. It is an automated process, completely free and unconditional. Log into your N26 mobile app and tap on My account > Switch to N26. Tap Start now and follow the instructions. Once you’ve filled in all the required information, it will take up to 12 business days to N26 and your departing bank to process the account switching request. Your payment partners may need additional time to change your bank details for future transactions. They have 10 days to make the changes and inform you.
The regular payments that can be switched to your N26 account through our partner ISILIS are:
- Direct debits, for instance of your taxes or from various providers (insurance, electricity, gas, telephone, Internet…);
- Transfers such as your salary, benefits or any other recurring transfer.
To prepare your mobility, make sure you have the bank details of your current/previous account ready. It is necessary for us to be able to retrieve the list of recurring transfers and direct debits so that these transactions can be redirected to your N26 account.
Account switching service support
Once your mobility mandate request has been signed, our partner ISILIS will send you your identifiers (email address + password) via two separate emails to connect you to your banking mobility monitoring area (https://n26.domiciliationbancaire.fr/). The tracking area allows you to download your signed bank mobility mandate, follow the progress of your request and consult the list of recurring transactions retrieved from your former bank.
Mandatory account switching service
All French licensed banks are required to offer a bank account switching service. To initiate your use of this service, place a request to your new bank that will transfer us all the required information.
At N26, once we have received your request, we will process it within 12 business days. Your payment partners may need additional time to change your bank details for future transactions.

- What documents are required if I want to use this service?
You just need the IBANs for your old bank account and your N26 account.
- What is a mobility mandate?
It is a document that authorizes N26, as your new bank, to carry out the bank account switching process on your behalf.
- What is ISILIS?
ISILIS is our partner platform that handles the bank account switching process. The service is completely free of charge.
- What type of account is eligible for banking mobility?
The automatic transfer service for switching bank accounts only applies to individual deposit accounts. Business accounts, savings accounts, and savings plans are not eligible for this service.
- What types of transactions are included?
The transactions included are regular transfers and direct debits recorded in your old bank account over the previous 13 months. Standing orders or transfers to French regulated savings accounts (PEL, Livret A, etc.) are not included in the banking mobility service.
N26 can ask your old bank to stop paying standing orders. If you would like us to do so, you need to select this option when you sign your mobility mandate and provide a date for when your standing order payments should cease. Then, you’ll be able to set up your standing orders again from your N26 account. Simply create an initial transfer by tapping on “Send Money,” follow the steps indicated, and choose “Save as standing order” if you want to automate it.
- How long will it take to switch my bank account?
According to regulations, it should take no more than 22 working days from the date when the mandate was signed.
- How can I track the progress of the account switching process?
Once your mobility mandate has been signed, our partner ISILIS will send you an email containing an ID number that you can use to track your request online (https://n26.domiciliationbancaire.fr (new tab)). You can download your mobility mandate, track progress, and check the list of transferred transactions.
- What will happen to my old bank account?
The bank switching process won’t affect your old account unless you ask for it to be closed. If you want to close the account, you can ask for any remaining funds to be transferred on a date of your choice (at the earliest, 30 days after signing the mobility mandate with ISILIS).
- Can I go through the banking mobility process myself?
It is possible to change your main bank account manually. If you wish to do this, you’ll need to provide your new bank account details to all organizations that pay into or withdraw from your original bank account, so they can record your new bank account details.
- Can I use the banking mobility service to transfer from a foreign bank account?
The banking mobility service only applies in France. If you want to switch your account from a bank based in a foreign country, you’ll need to manage the process manually.
- Is it possible to use the banking mobility service for several accounts at the same time?
It’s possible to request the banking mobility service for several accounts from one or more banks at the same time, as long as the accounts are all eligible for banking mobility.
- My banking mobility request was rejected. Who should I contact?
Your request could have been rejected for the following reasons:
- Your account wasn’t eligible for banking mobility (regulated savings account, business account, foreign bank account, etc.).
- Your old bank account was overdrawn. You must first settle any debts before you can use the service.
If none of these situations applies to you, please contact us (new tab). To find out more about the Banking Mobility Assistance Service, please read this article (new tab).
