Login restrictions in sanctioned countries and territories
As a regulated financial institution, N26 must comply with international laws and regulations, including those related to sanctions compliance.
This means that if you try to access your N26 account from a sanctioned country or territory, your login will be temporarily blocked. Account access will automatically be restored once you return to a supported location.
Sanctioned countries and territories
You can't log in to the N26 app or access your account while you are in one of the following sanctioned countries or territories:
- Iran
- Cuba
- North Korea
- Crimea
- Donetsk
- Luhansk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Kherson
This list may change over time, based on regulatory updates. It was last updated on 25.11.2025.
Your account
What remains unaffected
While you're in a sanctioned country or territory, the following account functions continue to work:
- Incoming transfers to your N26 account
- Scheduled standing orders
- Direct debits set up by third parties
- Card-linked subscriptions (e.g., Netflix)
What is blocked
The following actions aren't available until you return to a supported location:
- Logging in to the N26 app or WebApp and any action requiring app confirmation
- Making outgoing transfers
- Using your N26 card for payments or withdrawals
- Card payments and digital wallets (blocked via Mastercard & Google/Apple Pay)
If you’re traveling
If you plan to travel to a country or territory under international sanctions, please prepare in advance to avoid any financial disruption:
- Ensure all regular or expected payments are covered during your trip.
- Plan alternative ways to access your money while abroad.
What you need to do
Your account remains safe. To reactivate it, you may need to respond to an email from us requesting additional information. Once we’ve received your reply and you’re back in a supported location, we’ll restore your access.
If you’ve moved, or are planning to move to a sanctioned country or territory
If you're currently living in, or planning to move to a sanctioned location, please review the following important information:
- While you're in a sanctioned country or territory, you won't be able to log in to your N26 account or use your card. This is a legal requirement and applies to all customers in affected regions.
- Your money remains secure. You'll regain full access to your account once you return to a supported location.
Before you move to a sanctioned country or territory, follow the instructions in our Support Center article: How to close my N26 account. This is the easiest and fastest way to close your account.
If you can't access your account, please send a manually signed account closure form (new tab) from your registered email address to our support team (support@n26.com).
