Be aware of callers impersonating N26!
Here’s a quick list of advice to keep you safe from Impersonation scam.
Please note: You may be at an elevated risk of being targeted by scammers if you have previously been impacted by a 3rd party data breach that has exposed your contact information, such as the recent data leak that happened at the French Telco Company “Free”.
- Pay attention to Spoofing Even when you receive a phone call with the official N26 phone number, or an SMS or email where the sender looks to be N26, be aware of Spoofing! Spoofing consists in replacing the real sender number or email address with the official one from the company or authority impersonated. A scammer can use this technique to make you believe N26 is reaching out. Don’t fall in the trap!
- Be suspicious about the legitimacy of the communication received Whether your data was part of a 3rd party data leak or not, it’s always possible a scammer knows certain details about you, your life or even your bank account data. They will use this information to build trust and prove legitimacy of their contact. Always be suspicious, and remember: N26 never calls their customers without previously informing them via a Secure Inbox Message. We sometimes send emails with a link redirecting you to the N26 app on your phone, or to our support center. However, we do not send any SMS with a link.
- N26 will never ask you to share your card or bank data, send money to another account or confirm a transaction A bank will never ask you for such a thing like creating a Space within your existing account or moving money to another “Temporary Account”. Also, we will never ask you to confirm a transaction that pops up in your N26 App. Finally, N26 will never ask you to share your bank account or your card details, as we already have this information.
