Why do I need to update my personal information (FR IBAN)?
This page is for accounts whose IBAN starts with FR.
As a bank, N26 is required to collect personal, professional, and financial information from its customers and keep this information up-to-date throughout the business relationship. These are standard obligations deriving from the laws and regulations applicable to the banking sector.
We kindly request your understanding that we can only fulfill our regulatory obligations as outlined in Articles L561-6 and R561-12 of the Financial and Monetary Code.
Please note that this is a general regulatory requirement that involves periodically verifying and updating our customers' personal identification and financial information.
What information do I need to update?
You will receive a message from us asking you to review your personal, professional, and financial information.
You will be guided throughout the process. All you have to do is either confirm the previously provided information or make updates if there have been any changes.
Once you’ve received our message about updating your personal, professional, and financial information, you will be prompted to complete it when you login to the N26 app the next time.
Before starting the process, please make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of the N26 app. Updating your information is only possible through the app on your mobile device (and not from the web app).
In the particular case where you would be tax liable in more than one country, you will be able to add all the relevant countries in the Tax section of the N26 app (your initials → Personal details → Tax info → Add new tax country).
What happens if I don't update my information?
Confirming or updating your personal, professional and financial information will only take you a few minutes. Please make sure to complete this step within 90 days following our communication. In case the process isn’t completed in time, we will be forced to restrict certain features of your account. You will not receive incoming transfers, including payments and credits such as your salary. Please note: if you don’t confirm your details, further restrictions may be placed on your account. However, you’ll still be able to complete the process and fully regain access to your account at that point.
Such restrictions will be lifted as soon as you complete the revalidation process.
The processing of the supplied data is necessary for the fulfillment of legal and regulatory obligations to which the responsible party (N26 Bank AG) is subject to as a bank.
We store and process personal data during the business relationship and for five years after the closure of the account, as per the laws and regulations applicable to the banking sector in France. This is applicable under L561-12 of the Financial and Monetary Code.
