What are N26 Joint accounts?

The N26 Joint Account allows two individuals to easily access a shared bank account. It includes a designated IBAN for managing shared finances, setting up automatic payments for bills and rent, and connecting your N26 card for daily transactions.

This feature is designed to simplify shared finances, providing an effortless and user-friendly experience that empowers you to manage your financial journey together.

The N26 Joint Account allows two individuals to have equal access to the account, with both co-holders ‌jointly and severally liable for all commitments acquired by either of them on the Joint Account.

How Can I Open a Joint Account?

If you don’t have an N26 account yet, click here to know more about it and here to sign up.

If you’re already an N26 customer:

  • Login to your N26 mobile app
  • From the Home tab, go to Finances
  • Select Joint Account and Continue

You’ll then be asked Who do you want to share your Joint account with?

Please note: you’ll be able to share a Joint Account only with one person at a time.

The person you invite must have an N26 account with the same country’s T&Cs and IBAN.

Here, you’ll have to select if the other person that you are sharing the Joint Account with is someone on or outside N26. Always make sure the person you’re sharing your Joint Account with is known and trusted.

If you’re sharing your joint account with another N26 customer:

  • Select the person from your contact list
  • Answer a few questions on your financial background, relationship, and usage
  • Accept the Terms and Conditions and send the invite
  • After your invitation is received and accepted by the other person, they'll be able to access the Joint Account, link their card, and manage the finances

If you want to share your joint account with a person outside N26:

  • Select the person from your contact list
  • Send the invitation link
  • Once the other person has successfully opened their N26 account, either one of you can follow the steps to create a Joint Account with another N26 customer.

Once the Joint Account is opened, both of you'll be able to access the Joint Account, link your cards, and manage your finances.

Your Joint Account will appear under the Home and Finances section of your app.

From there, you can transfer money to and from the Joint Account, download your balance statement, set up automation, link your N26 card, and monitor all your finances using the insights on your monthly budget and spending categories.

Spaces and Moneybeam won't be available for use in Joint Accounts initially.

Please note: Joint Accounts are currently available only for N26 Standard, Premium, and Flex and not for N26 Business customers and P-Accounts.

Please note: if you opened a N26 Standard account from the 16th of February 2021, you’ll have the option to order your virtual card and link it to your Joint Account. If you opened your N26 Standard account before that date, you’ll have to order a physical Mastercard first, and then link it to your Joint Account.

You can connect your physical or virtual N26 card to your joint account right in the N26 app. There are two ways to link your N26 card to a joint account:

  1. Go to the Finances tab, click on your Joint Account tile. Inside the Joint Account details, select the quick-action Cards & IBANs;
  2. Go to your Cards tab, tap on the cards icon, and select the card you want to link. Select the card you want to link to and select your joint account.

Your card will be linked to your selected joint account instantly.
