How to get a P-account?

In most cases, you can convert your account to a P-account directly in the N26 app using the link in the message we send you about an incoming garnishment.

If you can’t complete the conversion in the app (for example, if the automated flow fails), you can still request a P-account by replying to the message in Messages from N26 with a signed form attached (see below).

  1. Open the message about the incoming garnishment and use the link to start the P-account flow.
  2. Read the information shown in the flow and accept the required checkboxes.
  3. Select Submit request.

What happens next

  • If your request is processed automatically, your account is converted within a few seconds and you’ll receive a confirmation in Messages from N26.
  • If the automated flow fails, follow the manual request steps below.

Manual request (only if the automated flow fails)

Please fill out this P-account form and sign it.

Then reply to the message you received in Messages from N26 about your garnishment and attach the signed form.

Please note

  • We report your P-account conversion to Schufa Holding AG.
  • If your account has been garnished and you have an open credit facility or overdraft at the time of conversion to a P-account, we'll have to cancel your overdraft and/or credit facility.
  • You're allowed to have only one P-account. Having multiple P-accounts (even at other banks) is a violation of the law and may lead to the immediate termination of your N26 account without notice.
  • Spaces : Upon activation of the P-account, all Spaces without IBANs will be deleted and the funds transferred to your main account. Spaces with IBANs will be seized, and it won't be possible to transfer the funds to your main account. Funds held in Spaces with IBANs may, if necessary, be transferred to the creditor once the garnishment has been in place for one month. Any funds transferred to a Space with an IBAN while the P-account is active cannot be transferred back. If a card is linked to a space with IBAN, we cannot re-link it to the main account.
  • Savings and Freelance Accounts : Upon activation of the P-account, your Savings and Freelance accounts will be seized, and it won't be possible to transfer the funds to your main account. Funds held in these accounts may, if necessary, be transferred to the creditor once the garnishment has been in place for one month. Any funds transferred to a Savings or Freelance account while the P-account is active cannot be transferred back. If a card is linked to a Savings or Freelance account, we cannot re-link it to the Main account.
  • Joint Account: If you have a Joint Account, it will be closed (60 days notice) upon P-Account conversion. You won't be able to open a new Joint Account. Upon activation, both account holders have one month from the time of garnishment entry to request that their share of the funds be moved to their respective accounts.
