Received a suspicious message?
Important: N26 will never send unsolicited SMS with links or ask you to move money from your account. All account communication happens within the N26 app, not by SMS or phone.
You might receive an SMS from fraudsters trying to impersonate N26, to try and gain access to people's email address, phone number, birth date, and other information for fraudulent purposes.
These fraudsters spoof the N26 number, making the SMS appear to come from N26 and appear in the same thread as legitimate N26 messages. Clicking the link in the fake SMS redirects you to a fake website impersonating an N26 login page, where you are asked to provide sensitive information such as login credentials and contact details.
They usually notify that a new device has been paired to your N26 account, ask you to reset your password claiming that your account is at risk or to move your money from your account; in order to access your bank account and gain control of it.
The fraudster may then send a follow-up SMS in the same N26 thread, advising that they will call at a specific time. During the call, they claim to be working for N26 and use social engineering tactics to convince you to transfer your money to a so-called “secure” or “temporary” account as an alternative security measure.
Have you received a message about a Huawei device linked to your account?
If the message looks like this, it is most likely to be a fraudulent approach: "You have linked a HUAWEI device, you can sign operations from your mobile! If this wasn't you, verify immediately [Link]."
The intention behind this message is to trick you into clicking the link to report that it wasn't you, setting up a phone call to supposedly verify your identity and move your funds to a "secure" account. Afterwards, they will notify you that the device was indeed unlinked.
This is a scam designed to obtain your personal information and bank credentials, allowing them to have access to your N26 account. If this happens, please remember not to interact with these fraudsters by following the information below.
