  • New purchase protection up to 10.000€ per year, in case of theft or accidental damage on goods you purchased with your N26 card. New purchase protection for any good bought online/offline with a minimum purchase price of € 100, in case of theft or accidental damage. The items must have been fully purchased using the N26 Metal account or its associated payment card(s). All the other benefits listed in the insurance package aren't included in this obligation. The account holder is required to produce proof of ownership of the insured object.
    • If the repair has been managed directly by the account holder, 
    • Provide the repairer's statement
    • Provide the repair cost invoice or proof of purchase of the replacement object to be eligible for a refund 
    • In case of theft: Provide Police incident report
  • Mobile phone insurance: possibility to claim expenses related to repair, replacement or compensation for your device (aged less than 24 months). This coverage becomes active after 30 days into your N26 Metal membership. The Mobile Telephone Accidental Damage & Theft and Purchase Protection benefits are available to the account holder only. The account holder is required to produce proof of ownership of the insured mobile telephone and that it's no older than 24 months at the time of theft or accidental damage. If the repair has been managed directly by the account holder, they'll have to provide the repairer's statement, the repair cost invoice or proof of purchase of the replacement mobile phone to be eligible for a refund. In case of theft: provide a Police incident report.
  • New personal liability while traveling covers up to 500.000€ , in case you’re legally liable for damage or injury to a third party or their property during a trip.
  • Baggage Delay Insurance for the costs of first necessity items purchased when checked-in luggage arrives after more than a 4 hour delay. Baggage: Up to €2,000 per trip Baggage delay: Up to €500 per trip.
  • Baggage Loss, Theft or Damage for the theft, loss or damage (total or partial) of the Beneficiary’s Luggage.
  • Identification Document Coverage: Necessary costs for emergency replacement identification document up to €500 per trip.
  • Travel Delay Reimbursement of additional expenses incurred as a result of a transportation delay or missed departure during a trip. Additional expenses for meals, accommodation, additional transportation expenses up to €500 per trip.
  • Trip Cancellation Reimbursement of non- refundable trip costs, cancellations fees, and rebooking fees in case of a trip cancellation (up to €10,000 per trip for trip cancellation). The deductible for trip cancellation is €20 for each person covered. 
  • Trip Interruption Reimbursement of unused non-refundable trip costs in case of a trip interruption
    • Early return Reimbursement of the additional transportation costs to return to your country of residence early or to continue your trip.
    • Onward Journey Reimbursement of the cost of necessary additional accommodation
    • Prorated costs of the covered travel services booked but unused at the destination, up to €10,000 per trip
    • Necessary transportation expenses to continue the trip or return home
    • Additional accommodation/ transportation expenses if prolongation of the trip is necessary up to €100/day/per trip for a max. of three days
  • Emergencies while travelling that includes:
    • Medical Expenses coverage due to a sudden, unexpected, illness, injury or medical condition
    • Emergency dental expenses for treatment to alleviate pain including simple fillings and repairs to dentures and temporary solutions as well as provisional replacement of teeth following an Accident
    • Medical Repatriation & Transportation for the return transportation at nearest hospital or place of residence due to acute Illness and accidents occurring during a Trip and medically advisable and justifiable medical repatriation Max. amount covered:
      • For medical emergency treatment: up to €1,000,000 per trip.
      • For dental emergency treatment: up to €250 per trip
      • For medical repatriation up to the actual cost for search, rescue and recovery: up to €2,300 per trip
    • Transport of the mortal remains for repatriation of mortal remains of the Beneficiary in the event of death during a Trip.
    • Sports Accidents for covering the costs of the search or rescue and the costs of the first transportation between the place of the accident and the medical center or possibly the nearest hospital and for medical expenses due to a sudden, unexpected, illness, injury or medical condition

What events are covered by theft under Purchase Protection and Mobile phone protection?

Burglary

• Forceful entrance into premises: At a definable time and place the insured object is stolen from locked premises so that physical force and violent entry into the premises is required.

• Forceful entrance into vehicles: At a definable time and place the insured object, being out of sight, is stolen from a locked vehicle with all available protection being in use, so that physical force and violent entry into the vehicle is required.

Robbery

• The unauthorised taking of your insured object by either physical force, threats to, or intimidation of you by another individual(s).

Please note the following limitations: 

  • Mobile phone protection: item less than 2 years old. Depreciation: 10% every 6 months following the purchase date.
  • Purchase protection: Deductible: €50 per claim. Depreciation: 10% every 6 months following the purchase date.

Who is the Beneficiary of the contract?

The account holder who has rights to claim under the collective insurance agreement. Please be aware that the insurances included in the N26 Metal account are only available when your N26 Metal account is active.

  • The account holder’s spouse or cohabitant and 
  • Children (including stepchildren, foster children, adopted children or children currently in the adoption process) up to a maximum age of 25 years, if still in education at the time of travel, are considered a beneficiary, when they travel with the account holder. 

The Mobile phone and Purchase Protection benefits are available for the account holder only.

What kind of trips are covered?

Any travel or stay further than 100km from beneficiary’s residence or abroad, up to a maximum period of the first 90 consecutive days.

The trip starts when the beneficiary leaves the primary residence (also in case of a trip to multiple countries).

Keep these in mind when considering N26 Metal:

  • If you’re a new customer, the first fee will be deducted 15 days after you prove your identity. From then on, you’ll be charged your monthly fee on your sign-up date.
  • Please top up your account right after completing the sign up with at least the amount of the monthly Metal fee in order to receive the card
  • If you upgrade to N26 Business Metal from another membership, the monthly fee of €16,90 will be deducted directly from your N26 account every month starting on the date of your upgrade. 
  • If you’re a new customer that signed up to N26 Metal, your membership will be active as soon as the first fee was charged. This happens when you topped-up your account to cover the first monthly fee, but at the latest 15 days after you proved your identity. From then on, you’ll be charged your monthly fee on the same date every month.
  • If you were previously an N26 You member, all purchases and travel booked using your N26 You Mastercard will remain insured.
  • From now on, you can decide whether to pay your Premium fee monthly or in advance for the next 6 months or 1 year of the contract. If you choose the prepayment option, you will benefit from a discount on the monthly cost of your Premium account (Smart / You / Metal), which will be proportional to the billing period you want to pay.
  • Upon signing up, you will find the prepaid billing options and related costs in your N26 app. It's currently not possible to change the billing option for the membership renewal.

What is not included in the insurance coverage of N26 Metal?

  • Events occurring outside the validity dates indicated in the conditions for beneficiaries
  • Claims arising from an event the beneficiary had prior knowledge of before opening their account (or booking a trip for travel-related claims).
  • Natural disasters, events directly or caused by or contributed to or arising from nuclear reactivity
  • Damage of any kind caused intentionally by the beneficiary or with their complicity
  • An epidemic or pandemic, except as expressly stated under Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Emergency Medical/Dental Services Abroad and Emergency Transportation sections.
  • Systemic (non-individual) epidemic/pandemic events
  • Claims arising due to pre-existing medical conditions
  • Violation of international sanctions, laws or regulations
  • The policy deductible that is applicable to claims made under some benefit sections
  • Financial limits apply to each benefit section
  • There are general conditions that you must meet for cover to apply and some benefit sections contain conditions specific to that section

What limitations are there for the insurance coverage?

  • War (declared or undeclared) or acts of war
  • Civil disorder or unrest, except when and to the extent that civil disorder or unrest is expressly referenced in and covered under trip interruption coverage or travel delay coverage
  • Terrorist events, except when and to the extent that terrorist events are expressly referenced. This exclusion does not apply to Emergency Medical or Emergency Transportation coverage.
  • Intentional self-harm or attempt or comit suicide
  • Unstabilized illnesses or injuries that were diagnosed or treated
  • An epidemic or pandemic, except when and to the extent that an epidemic or pandemic is expressly referenced in the coverage description
  • Local health situations, pollution, weather or climate events
  • Natural disaster, except when and to the extent that a natural disaster is expressly referenced in the coverage description
  • Expenses incurred without the prior agreement of our assistance department
  • The cost of treatment or care not resulting from a medical emergency
  • The consumption of alcohol or drugs not medically prescribed
  • Participation in a professional or dangerous sport
