Travel eSIM usage, features, and support
Plan activation and expiration
Your data plan activates automatically when you arrive in your destination country and your phone connects to a local network.
- Important: For the plan to activate, you must have Data Roaming turned ON for your Travel eSIM in your phone's settings.
- The validity period (e.g., 30 days) starts on the day of activation, not the day of purchase.
Data is not working
If you have arrived at your destination and your data is not working, please check the following:
- Ensure that Data Roaming is turned ON for your Travel eSIM in your phone's settings.
- Ensure the APN (Access Point Name) in your phone's settings is set to truphone.com.
- Ensure your phone's network selection is set to "Automatic".
- Try turning Airplane Mode on for at least 15 seconds, and then turn it off again.
Additional Steps if Data is Not Working:
- Validate that you have an active plan for your current country.
- Confirm the eSIM is properly installed and active.
- Set the eSIM as the primary data source and disable Wi-Fi.
- Ensure Data Roaming is enabled.
- Set the APN to truphone.com.
- Set network selection to Automatic; try manual selection if needed.
- Turn off any VPNs.
- Toggle Airplane Mode for 15 seconds.
- Reset network settings as a last resort.
Slow or Intermittent Data
- Ensure your device is set to use 5G or 4G networks.
- Check the coverage bars on your device.
- Perform a speed test to check your connection.
- Try manual network selection if issues persist.
Hotspot/Tethering Issues (Android)
- Ensure low data modes are turned off.
- For Android, verify that the APN type includes “default, dun”.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Access Point Names.
- Edit or add an APN:
- Name: truphone.com
- APN: truphone.com
- APN type: default,dun
- Save and select this APN, then test hotspot functionality.
Running out of data
Your plan expires. You cannot buy extra data add-ons for an existing plan. If you need more data, you must purchase a new data bundle.
Making calls or sending SMS
Your Travel eSIM is data-only and does not have a phone number. Any phone calls or SMS messages you make or receive will be handled and billed by your other primary mobile provider (such as your N26 SIM Local Plan or another carrier).
Using multiple plans
Yes. You can buy multiple data plans at the same time, even for the same country.
- You only need to install the Travel eSIM once.
- If you have multiple plans for the same destination, they will "stack" and activate in the order you purchased them (the first plan you bought will be the first one used).
eSIM PIN
By default, there is no PIN. If you wish to set one up, you can do so in your phone's SIM settings. If your phone asks for an existing PIN during setup, use the default PIN "0000".
