What is phishing?

Phishing is a technique scammers use to trick you into sharing sensitive personal information. Once they have it, they can commit fraud while impersonating you. For more detail on how to spot and avoid phishing, read the N26 blog post on how to recognise and avoid phishing attacks (new tab).

N26 will never send you a text message or email with a time-critical warning that asks you to log in and share account data. N26 will never give you an ultimatum, and will never ask you to verify your identity outside its secure communication channels.

If you get a suspicious email, don't select any links or download any attachments. If you receive a suspicious email, do not click on any links or download any attachments. To help us in our investigation, we ask that you either:

Option 1 — Forward the email thread

Forward the suspicious email thread directly to support@n26.com.

Option 2 — Send it as an .eml file (preferred)

Save the suspicious email as an .eml file and attach it to an email to support@n26.com. Most email providers save in this format automatically when you download the message. Sending the .eml file lets N26 trace the true origin of the message and report it to the relevant organizations.

If you have trouble saving the email as an .eml file, fall back to Option 1 and forward the thread.

Don't take screenshots and send them — N26 can't use this format. Delete the email from your inbox after reporting.

If you get a suspicious text message, don't select any links or share any data. To help N26 investigate, follow these steps:

1. Take a screenshot of the message.
2. Make sure the full message is visible, including the sender's phone number and the date and time.
3. Send the screenshot by email to support@n26.com.
4. Once N26 confirms the message is a phishing attempt, block the sender's phone number.
5. Delete the message from your phone.

If you get a suspicious call — even from a number that looks like an N26 number — don't share any personal data or account information. Scammers can use "phone spoofing" to disguise their number so it matches a bank's real number.

If you think you've been targeted by a phone scam, or if you already shared personal data, send an email to support@n26.com right away. Include as much detail about the call as you can:

• Phone number that called (including country code)
• Language of the call
• Any additional notes, such as accent
• Description of the call — what they said, who they claimed to be, what they wanted from you, and whether they already had any of your data
• Whether the caller asked you to complete any payments
• Any data the caller asked you to share and whether you shared it

You may come across a fake website that falsely advertises services on behalf of N26. Some sites display the N26 logo on alleged affiliate pages — offering credit or limited-time deals. The word "N26" appearing in a URL doesn't mean the site is legitimate.

If you suspect a site is fraudulent, check the address bar. The legitimate N26 login URL is https://app.n26.com/login. If the URL is different, copy it and send an email to support@n26.com to report it immediately.
