Login restrictions in sanctioned countries and territories

N26 is a regulated bank and must follow international sanctions law. If you try to log in from a sanctioned country or territory, your access is automatically blocked. Your account and money stay safe, and access is restored as soon as you return to a supported location.

Sanctioned countries and territories

You can't log in to the N26 app or access your account from the following sanctioned countries or territories:

  • Iran
  • Cuba
  • North Korea
  • Crimea
  • Donetsk
  • Luhansk
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Kherson

This list may change based on regulatory updates. It was last updated on 25.11.2025.

What still works and what is blocked

Some account functions continue to work while you're in a sanctioned country or territory:

  • Incoming transfers to your N26 account
  • Scheduled standing orders
  • Direct debits set up by third parties
  • Card-linked subscriptions (e.g., Netflix)

The following actions aren't available until you return to a supported location:

  • Logging in to the N26 app or on web, and any action that needs app confirmation
  • Making outgoing transfers
  • Using your N26 card for payments or cash withdrawals
  • Card payments and digital wallets (blocked via Mastercard and Google/Apple Pay)

Prepare before you travel

If you're traveling to a sanctioned country or territory, make sure your money is organized before you go:

  • Make sure all regular or expected payments are covered for the duration of your trip.
  • Plan alternative ways to access your money while you're abroad.

Reactivating your account

Your account remains safe while access is blocked. To reactivate it, you may need to reply to an email from us asking for additional information. That email comes from gsec@n26.com. Once you've replied and you're back in a supported location, we'll restore your access.

If you're moving to a sanctioned country or territory

If you're planning to move to — or are already living in — a sanctioned location, here's what you need to know:

  • You won't be able to log in to your N26 account or use your card. This is a legal requirement and applies to all customers in affected regions.
  • Your money remains secure. You'll get full access to your account again once you return to a supported location.

Before you move, use the How to close my N26 account guide in the N26 Support Center — it's the quickest way to close your account. If you can't access your account, send an email to support@n26.com with a manually signed account closure form from your registered email address.
