Cards expiration and replacement: FAQs
If your N26 Mastercard has expired or will expire soon, in this article you will find all the information on how to order a new one, the related costs and shipping times.
Before proceeding with reordering a new card, we recommend that you check that all your personal details are correct and up to date and.
My card is expiring soon, what do I have to do?
If your card is expiring soon, please log into your N26 account in the app, go to Cards Tab and look for a banner under the corresponding card. Follow the steps to confirm where you’d like to receive your replacement card and we’ll send it to you.
If you don’t see that message, don’t worry. This is probably because your card still has some validity time ahead, when the time is right you’ll have the option to confirm your address.
Once your card arrives, you will have to activate it before you can begin using it. Don’t forget to destroy your old card and dispose of it according to your local recycling guidelines.
Please note: when you have received and activated your new Mastercard, remember to update your payment information for all your subscriptions and recurring payments. By doing this, you will prevent your future payments from being rejected.
Can I keep using my card after it has expired?
No, the expiration date on your card serves an important function and you won’t be able to use it after the expiration month is over. You will receive a new card with a different number, as well as a new expiration date.
How much does it cost to get a replacement for my expiring or expired card?
Replacement cards are free of charge for all N26 Smart, You or Metal customers.
If you opened your account before the following dates, both the new card and shipping to your address are free of charge within the countries where N26 is available (new tab):
- 16.02.2021 (Customers with legal address in Greater Europe)
- 25.02.2021 (Customers with legal address in Italy or Spain)
- 11.03.2021 (Customers with legal address in France)
- 18.03.2021 (Customers with legal address in Germany, Austria or Switzerland),
If your account was created after that, your replacement card will have the same cost of getting a brand new card.
If you are currently located in a country that is not supported by N26, please reach out to our Customer Service via chat or phone so we can place the order for you. Delivery outside these countries (new tab) might carry an extra cost.
How long will it take?
All replacements for expiring or expired cards are shipped via Standard delivery. It takes up to 15 business days and is free of charge. In rural or harder-to-reach areas it can take longer. To stay up-to-date on the delivery progress simply go to the home screen of your N26 mobile app.
My card already expired but I never received a replacement

- If you have already confirmed your address and more than 20 days have passed since, please reach out to Customer support. You can do it in the Support section in the app.
- If you haven’t confirmed your address yet, log into your N26 account in the app and look for a banner under your expired card. Follow the steps to confirm where you’d like to receive your replacement card.
