What to do if I can't repay my overdraft or loan?
If you’re having difficulty repaying your N26 Overdraft, you may be offered the option to convert it into a Repayment Plan.
If you’re having difficulty repaying your N26 Overdraft, please contact us. We may be able to offer you a Repayment Plan.
This Repayment Plan is a loan that allows you to repay your outstanding overdraft balance in fixed monthly installments, helping you manage your finances and avoid further delays.
How it works
The Repayment Plan is available only to customers who currently have an active N26 Overdraft and meet these requirements:
- You're a tax resident in a country where the overdraft service is available.
- You've used more than 75% of your overdraft limit and your negative balance exceeds €120.
- You don't already have an active Repayment Plan.
Our systems automatically monitor overdraft usage and, if you qualify, an infocard will appear in your N26 app showing the option to apply for a Repayment Plan.
If you apply, we determine your eligibility automatically based on predefined criteria, such as:
- Your account hasn't been in unauthorized or technical overdraft for more than 90 days.
- There are no active garnishments on your account or ongoing insolvency proceedings.
- Your account isn't subject to legal or compliance restrictions.
Based on these checks and your current overdraft usage, the available repayment options are generated and displayed directly in your N26 app.
Note: Your Repayment Plan is a new consumer credit agreement, with the same characteristics as your original overdraft. Your original overdraft will be canceled, and a new consumer credit contract will be formalized with N26.
Managing your Repayment Plan
You can adjust certain parameters (within approved limits), such as the loan duration, directly through the N26 app.
Your Repayment Plan is monitored automatically to ensure payments are made as agreed. These automated steps are carried out without human intervention and follow predefined contractual conditions, in line with our internal credit policies and risk appetite.
If you believe a decision was incorrect, you have the right to request a human review, express your view, or contest the outcome via chat.
If you miss two or more monthly installments, or the final installment, N26 may declare the entire outstanding debt immediately due and payable. If this happens, the outstanding balance remains due.
