Why you might need this document

In Italy, the average annual balance is often required for official financial reporting and tax purposes, including:

  • Completing the ISEE: This is essential for accessing government benefits and tax breaks. You should enter your balance in the FC.2 section of the ISEE form.
  • Proving creditworthiness: This document can help demonstrate your financial status to third parties or government programs.

This document is currently only available in Italian.

How does N26 calculate the balance?

We calculate the average balance by adding up your daily account balances for the year and dividing the total by 365. This calculation follows the instructions provided by the Italian Tax Authority and remains the same regardless of leap years or how long the account was active.

Important tax info for German IBANs

If you hold a German IBAN and your average balance is over €5,000, you are required to fill in the RW section of your tax return and pay the IVAFE (a fixed tax of €34.20). While your average annual balance certificate provides the data you need, your regular bank statements are also considered sufficient proof for administrative or judicial authorities.
