Travel eSIM: Your Data Travel Plan
The Travel eSIM offers flexible and affordable mobile data while traveling. You can activate it on your phone for instant internet access abroad without swapping SIM cards. It's a digital SIM card that downloads quickly and easily. After a first-time installation, you can then purchase multiple data plans (e.g., 5GB for the USA and 10GB for Brazil) on the same eSIM without needing additional downloads or physical SIM swaps for each plan.
Travel eSIMs are available in all markets, except for customers with an N26 account with an Italian IBAN.
How to get a Travel eSIM?
You can get a Travel eSIM directly through your N26 app.
- Open your N26 app.
- Tap on your initials.
- Select Travel eSIM in the Mobile section.
From there, you’ll be guided to choose a data plan that suits your needs. After choosing your preferred plan, you can install the eSIM right away. Your Travel eSIM will then activate automatically as soon as you enter your travel destination.
Does my phone support eSIM?
It’s important to note that only newer devices support eSIM.
- For iOS, eSIMs are supported on all iPhone XS, XR, and more recent models running iOS 15 or above.
- For Android devices running Android 10 or above, you need to check with your smartphone manufacturer.

What’s Included in your Travel eSIM
The Travel eSIM plans are data-only plans, designed to provide you with mobile data access abroad.
What’s not included
- SMS services (including MMS) and call services (including voicemail)
- Usage on smartwatches, tablets, iPads, or multiple phones.
- Add-ons, such as being able to buy additional data for the same plan. If you need more data, simply buy an additional plan, it will start as soon as the previous one expires.
- Invoices: Travel Plans are pre-paid, meaning payment is made upfront. As such, no invoices are provided.
Pricing and Data Plans
Our Travel eSIM offers vary depending on the country you are travelling to. You can find a full list of available countries and data packages directly in your N26 App by going to N26 SIM > Travel Plans > Choose destination. While only specific countries are offered at launch, we’ll expand our offer to regions and areas very soon.
Activation & Validity
After purchase and eSIM installation, your Travel eSIM plan activates automatically when you arrive at your travel destination and your phone connects to the region’s mobile networks. No further action is needed from your side. The validity period starts upon activation of the plan, not the date of purchase. Each plan is valid for a certain amount of days (depending on your choice) or until you use up all the data.
Important: You need to have data roaming enabled within your phone settings for the Travel eSIM to work.
Multiple Travel Plans
You can purchase multiple Travel Plans, regardless of whether they apply to the same or different countries/areas. You only need to install your Travel eSIM once for your first purchase. If you purchase multiple Travel Plans for the same destination, they will activate in the order of purchase: the first-purchased plan will activate once you arrive, and when its data is used up or its validity period is reached, the next Travel Plan will automatically and instantly activate. There is no limit on the number of Travel Plans you can have at one time.
Combining with an N26 SIM:
Yes, it is possible to have both a Travel eSIM and an N26 SIM Local Plan at the same time, provided your device supports two eSIMs simultaneously. Note that you can only have one Local Plan, but multiple Travel Plans.
Phone Calls & SMS While Using Travel eSIM
Travel Plans are mobile data packages ONLY. However, while using your Travel eSIM abroad, you can still make and receive phone calls, and send and receive SMS. Charges for these services will apply according to the contract you have with your other mobile provider (e.g., your N26 SIM Local Plan or another mobile provider). These charges can vary significantly depending on your provider, so it's best to check with them directly for pricing abroad.
Managing Your Travel eSIM
Installation
The Travel eSIM is a separate eSIM that needs to be installed with your first purchase of a Travel Plan. Once installed, all subsequent Travel Plans you purchase will be on that same eSIM, meaning you only need to install it once.
Transferring to a New Device
Travel eSIMs cannot be transferred directly to other devices and can only be used with the device paired to your N26 account. If you have a new phone, you would need to pair it to your N26 account first. After pairing, you can re-add your Travel eSIM to your new device.
Cancellations and Revocations
Revoking Your Travel Plan (within 14 days of sign-up)
You may be able to revoke your Travel Plan within 14 days of purchase, but with some limitations:
Revocation is possible if your request is within the 14-day period, if you have used less than 500MB of data, or if your plan (if valid for less than 14 days) has not already expired. Cancelling Your Travel Plan
Active and pending (to be activated) Travel Plans cannot be cancelled once purchased. Due to the prepaid model, Travel eSIMs are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled from our side. If you do not use your Travel eSIM, you don't need to do anything; the plan will expire automatically.
