How often can I withdraw cash for free?

The number of free ATM withdrawals you get each month depends on your account type and the country where you opened your account.

Since 2025, for accounts opened in Germany and the Rest of Europe, we have simplified our Fair Use policy. All Euro withdrawals—whether they are made in the country where you opened your account or anywhere else in the Eurozone—now count toward the same monthly free quota.

Free withdrawal quotas by market

Germany, France, Spain, and Rest of Europe

  • Standard & Business Standard: 2 free withdrawals per month
  • Smart & Business Smart: 3 free withdrawals per month
  • Go & Business Go: 5 free withdrawals per month
  • Metal & Business Metal: 8 free withdrawals per month

Italy

  • Standard & Business Standard: 3 free withdrawals per month
  • Smart, Go, and Metal (including Business): Unlimited free withdrawals

Austria

  • All Account Tiers: Unlimited free withdrawals

Switzerland

  • Standard & Business Standard: 2 free withdrawals in Euros per month
  • Smart & Business Smart: 3 free withdrawals in Euros per month
  • Note: Local CHF withdrawals are treated as foreign currency (1.7% fee) and do not count toward your free withdrawals quota.

N26 Flex

  • All ATM withdrawals cost €2.

Fees for additional withdrawals

Once you have used your monthly quota of free withdrawals, a fee of €2 per withdrawal applies for any further Euro withdrawals until your limit resets on the first of the next month.

Foreign currency withdrawals (Non-EUR)

Withdrawals in currencies other than Euro do not count toward your monthly Fair Use quota. The following fees apply:

  • Standard and Smart (including Business): 1.7% markup fee.
  • Go and Metal (including Business): Free (no markup fee).
  • Flex: €2 + 1.7% markup fee.

CASH26 (DE, AT, ES, IT)

You can also withdraw and deposit cash at over 15,000 partner stores using CASH26.

  • Withdrawals: Always free (except for Flex accounts, which cost €2).
  • Deposits: A 1.5% fee applies to the total amount deposited.
  • Important: CASH26 transactions never count toward your ATM Fair Use quota.

Maestro cards

N26 no longer issues new Maestro cards, and they can no longer be reordered. If you have an existing, active Maestro card:

  • A fee of €2 applies to every withdrawal.
  • These withdrawals do not count toward your monthly free ATM quota.
  • Your card will remain functional until its expiry date or June 1, 2027, whichever comes first.
