How to use my card to pay abroad?
Mastercard’s exchange rate applies to any foreign currency payment you make with your N26 card.
Good news: N26 doesn’t charge any extra fees for foreign transactions!
You can check Mastercard’s rates here (new tab).
Ensure that payments abroad are enabled in your card settings. Here are the steps to follow:
- Log in and go to Cards
- Tap on the desired card
- Tap on Card features
- Toggle Payments abroad
You can also use your N26 card for cash withdrawals abroad. When travelling outside the Eurozone, customers with N26 Standard, N26 Business, N26 Smart, and N26 Business Smart accounts will incur a fee of 1.7% of the withdrawn amount. However, withdrawals are free for customers with N26 You, N26 Business You, N26 Metal, and N26 Business Metal accounts.

On the N26 app and WebApp, you can check the original amount, the exchange rate, and the markup applied to a past transaction by viewing the transaction details on the feed.
The markup is the fee charged by Mastercard for a foreign currency payment. It's a small percentage of the European Central Bank (ECB) reference exchange rate.
Please be aware that exchange rates are dynamic, so the transaction value can change until the final purchase amount is charged due to currency variation.
