What do I need to open an N26 Business account in Spain?
To open an N26 Business account in Spain, you must:
- Be registered as a freelancer (autónomo) in Spain.
- Provide Modelo 036 or 037 form with a valid CSV (Código Seguro de Verificación) code.
What is a CSV code?
The CSV (Código Seguro de Verificación) is a unique 16-character verification code issued by the Spanish tax authority (Agencia Tributaria).
We use this code to verify that your freelance activity is registered and active in Spain.
Where can I find my CSV code?
You can find the CSV code at the bottom of your Modelo 036 or Modelo 037 document.
Look for:
- CSV
- Código Seguro de Verificación
The code contains a combination of 16 letters and numbers.
What are Modelo 036 and Modelo 037?
Modelo 036 and Modelo 037 are official registration forms issued by the Spanish tax authority when you register as a freelancer (autónomo) or start a business activity in Spain.
- Modelo 036: Standard registration form.
- Modelo 037: Simplified registration form for eligible freelancers.
You can use either document to open an N26 Business account, as long as it includes a valid CSV code.
As of February 3, 2025, the Spanish government no longer issues Modelo 037 forms.
If you registered your business before then, you may still have a Modelo 037. We currently still accept Modelo 037 for business verification, so you can submit it instead of a Modelo 036.
What should I do if my document doesn't have a CSV code?
If your copy doesn't include a CSV code, you can download a newer version from the Agencia Tributaria website.
- Log in to the Agencia Tributaria website (new tab).
- Go to ‘Mis Expedientes’.
- Find your Modelo 036 or Modelo 037.
- Download the latest version of the document.
The newly downloaded version will include a valid CSV code.
Why do I need to provide a CSV code?
To be eligible for our business plans in Spain, you need an active freelancer registration. The CSV code helps us securely verify your registration directly with the Spanish tax authority.
Where can I get more information?
You can find more information about Modelo 036, Modelo 037, or freelancer registration from the Spanish tax authority (new tab).
