PSD2 - Secure Open Banking

What is Open Banking?

Open Banking allows you to access your account information and initiate payments through regulated third-party providers in a safe and secure manner.

This means that you can permit regulated Third Party Providers to directly access your account information through a PSD2-compliant dedicated interface. The data exchange is handled in the background via our partner - Token.io.

By connecting with Token.io in the N26 app:

  • You’ll no longer need to manually input your private data on websites which increases the security of your data.

  • You can enable an Account Information Service (AIS) to pull together data from different bank accounts you may have, and then aggregate and manage their details in the same place through certified third-party providers.

  • You can securely pay at the checkout of any website that offers Payment Initiation Services (PIS).

How does it work?

To enable a secure connection with third-party providers, simply enable Open Banking within the N26 app by following the steps below:

My Account > Settings > Security > Open Banking

You can also manage and review your settings and revoke individual third-party provider permission you’ve previously granted access to at any time.

If you begin using a third-party payment service like an Account Information Service or a Payment Initiation Service as described above, you’ll be redirected to your N26 app via Token.io to confirm the individual request.

In our Privacy Policy we inform you about the purposes, involved parties and legal bases of the necessary data processing involved to enable Open Banking as part of the revised European Payment Services Directive
