Managing your N26 SIM phone number
How to port-in your number to N26
You can transfer an existing German (+49) mobile number to your N26 SIM plan. This is because porting legislation varies per country (as do the telecommunication laws and the number of digits used in each country). If the customer wants to port-in a non-German number, this isn't possible.
First, you must purchase and activate an N26 SIM plan. You'll be assigned a temporary N26 phone number.
To start the port-in process:
- Contact your current mobile provider and ask them to approve the transfer (release) of your number to N26 SIM.
- In the N26 app, go to your N26 SIM plan screen.
- Use the Bring your number to N26 feature.
- Follow the prompts and enter the required data, including the name of your previous provider.
You can monitor the status of your transfer in the app. If the port-in is delayed or rejected (e.g., due to a name mismatch or your old contract not being canceled), you must contact your previous provider directly to resolve it.
How to port out your number from N26
You can transfer your N26 SIM phone number to a different provider at any time.
- Step 1: Cancel your N26 SIM plan You must first cancel your current N26 SIM plan through the app. A 30-day cancellation period applies.
- Step 2: Initiate the number transfer Once cancellation is confirmed, ask our support team to release your phone number. We will then prepare your number so it is available for your new provider to transfer.
- Step 3: Contact your new provider: Once our team confirms your number is released, you must contact your new mobile provider and ask them to begin their port-in process.
Your N26 number will remain active, and your plan will continue until the transfer to your new provider is successfully completed.
Phone shows the wrong number after port in
If your port-in was successful but your phone's settings still show your temporary N26 number, you can fix this by reinstalling the eSIM.
Important Notes:
- Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection before starting this process, as you'll need internet access to download the new N26 eSIM profile.
- Deleting your eSIM will temporarily remove your mobile service associated with the N26 voice plan until it is reinstalled.
Step 1: Delete the eSIM from your phone's device settings.
Apple Devices
- Go to Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap on Mobile Data (or Cellular Data).
- Under "SIMs," select the N26 eSIM.
- Scroll down and tap on Delete eSIM.
- Confirm the deletion.
Android Devices
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on Network & internet (or Connections, Mobile network, or similar).
- Select SIMs (or SIM card manager, Mobile network).
- Choose the N26 eSIM.

- Confirm the deletion.
Step 2: Reinstall the eSIM from the N26 app.
- Open the N26 app.

- Install eSIM.
Follow the in-app instructions provided by N26 to install the eSIM. This should fetch and update the number.
