N26 SIM - Your Digital Mobile Plan

The N26 SIM plan is a digital-only mobile service you can manage entirely in your N26 app. It operates on Vodafone's 5G network and doesn't require a physical SIM card.

Before you start

Please be aware of these limitations:

  • Platform: The N26 SIM feature is only available in the N26 mobile app. It is not available on the N26 web app.
  • Country: This feature is currently only available to N26 customers with a home address in Germany, a German IBAN, and German T&Cs. Only German (+49) mobile plans are offered.
  • Device: Your phone must support eSIM technology. If your device isn't compatible, you will see a message in the app.
  • Eligibility: All N26 personal, business, and all-tier (Standard, Smart, You, Metal, Flex) accounts are eligible.

If your device is not eSIM-compatible or is locked to another provider, you will not be able to install the N26 SIM. To check compatibility, refer to your device manufacturer’s website. If you have reached the maximum number of eSIM profiles on your device, you may need to delete an old profile before installing a new one.

About eSIMs

An eSIM (embedded Subscriber Identity Module) is a digital SIM card. It allows you to download and activate a mobile plan directly on your device without needing a physical SIM card.

Your contacts and data are safe: You don't need to transfer any personal data to your eSIM. Your contacts, messages, and photos are stored on your phone's memory or in the cloud, not on the SIM card. Activating your eSIM won't erase them.

How to purchase your plan

App

  • Log in to your N26 mobile app.
  • Tap on your initials or profile picture in the top-right corner to open User Settings (also called "My Account").
  • Scroll down and tap on N26 SIM under the Mobile section.
  • You will be guided through the steps to choose and activate your plan.
  • As the final step, you can choose to "Install" your eSIM immediately or "Skip" to do it later.

Available plans

There are three plan options. All plans include unlimited national (German) calls and text messages, and free EU/EEA roaming.

  • Small plan: 10 GB
  • Medium plan: 30 GB
  • Large plan: 100 GB

What is not included with N26 SIM

The following features and services are not currently supported by the N26 SIM plan:

  • Physical SIM cards (the service is eSIM-only)
  • Voicemail or Visual Voicemail
  • Sending or receiving MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service)
  • Using your eSIM on smartwatches (like Apple Watch), tablets, or iPads
  • Using the same eSIM on multiple phones at the same time
  • Activation via QR code
  • Purchasing extra data add-ons for your local plan

Usage limits

All plans have a cap of 1,000 SMS messages and 15,000 call minutes per month. This cap also applies when roaming. There is also a cap of €200 international out-of-bundle charges per month.

If you run out of minutes or SMS, you can still use your remaining data to make calls or send messages with services like WhatsApp or FaceTime.

Understanding Roaming and other charges

  • EU/EEA Roaming: You can use your N26 SIM plan within the EU/EEA at no extra cost, as agreed in your contract. Ensure Roaming is enabled in your device settings.
  • International Roaming: If you are traveling outside the EU/EEA, additional charges for calls, SMS, and data will apply.
  • Wi-Fi Calling (VoWiFi): This feature is not free and is billed like a regular call.
  • Call Forwarding: This is a billable service charged a per-minute fee.

Using Dual SIM

You can use your N26 eSIM alongside a physical SIM from another provider. Most phones support "Dual SIM" mode, which allows you to use both at the same time.

Multiple N26 SIM plans

Currently, you can only have one active N26 SIM plan (Local Plan) per customer.
