How long does it take to send money with Wise?
Once you've initiated your transfer via Wise you'll be given an estimated time frame. When making a transfer, ensure that the recipients name exactly matches the name on their bank account!
If a Wise transfer fails, we’ll notify you via push message. The amount will automatically be returned to your account a few days later.
You can't personally cancel a transfer, but if you get in touch with Wise support this way they can cancel the transfer for you. Keep in mind that the transfer can only be cancelled up until the point Wise pays out your funds. Once the money has been sent to the recipient, it's not possible to cancel the transfer anymore.
The recipients details can only be changed up until the point that Wise has paid out your money. After your money has been paid out, the recipients details can no longer be changed. You can get in touch with Wise this way.
Wise doesn’t charge extra fees for a returned payment and neither do we. However, some participating banks do charge fees, in which case Wise will deduct this amount from the money returned under their Conditions of Use (new tab).
Common reasons for a failed transfer:
- Error in the transfer details (for example, when entering the recipient’s name or account information).
- Special characters or too many characters in the recipient’s name or reference field.
- Limits have been reached or online payments aren’t active in card settings.
- Foreign currency transfers aren’t possible with N26 Business or N26 Business You or if the recipient is a business account.
