What is Open Banking?

Open Banking allows you to access your account information and initiate payments through regulated third-party providers in a safe and secure manner.

This means that you can permit regulated Third Party Providers to directly access your account information through a PSD2-compliant dedicated interface. The data exchange is handled in the background via our partner -

By connecting with in the N26 app:

  • You’ll no longer need to manually input your private data on websites which increases the security of your data.

  • You can enable an Account Information Service (AIS) to pull together data from different bank accounts you may have, and then aggregate and manage their details in the same place through certified third-party providers.

  • You can securely pay at the checkout of any website that offers Payment Initiation Services (PIS). 

How does it work?

To enable a secure connection with third-party providers, simply enable Open Banking within the N26 app by following the steps below:

My Account > Settings > Security > Open Banking

You can also manage and review your settings and revoke individual third-party provider permission you’ve previously granted access to at any time.

If you begin using a third-party payment service like an Account Information Service or a Payment Initiation Service as described above, you’ll be redirected to your N26 app via to confirm the individual request.

Why can't I activate Open Banking?

Your paired device will need to have the option to enter either a Passcode/Fingerprint/FaceID. You will need to enable one of these settings to activate Open Banking.

If a third party provider doesn't have API integration, the third party provider will need to organise this with
